- Barolo wines must be aged for a minimum of 38 months. Out of this total aging period, at least 18 months must be spent in wooden barrels. The remaining aging can take place in stainless steel tanks or other non-wooden containers.
- Barolo Riserva wines must undergo even longer aging. They are required to spend at least 62 months aging from November 1st of the harvest year, with at least 24 months in wooden barrels.
